the cottages

Welcome to The Sidings Cottages

Two wonderful brick and flint cottages located in the heart of North Norfolk. Both cottages boast luxurious living with environmentally friendly design features and each cottage comfortably sleeps 7.

The Cottages are well situated in the attractive coastal village of Burnham Overy Staithe, which is set in an area of captivating salt marshes, estuaries and sand dunes, beloved by walkers, bird watchers and water sport enthusiasts. An excellent range of shops and restaurants can be explored in the pretty Town of Burnham Market, just 2 miles away.

Children will love the crabbing as well as the sandy beaches of the North Norfolk Coast, with Brancaster just 3 miles to the West and Wells only 3 miles east. It is claimed that Nelson learned to sail a dinghy in the Staithe at 10 years old - just 2 years before he joined the navy!

Both cottages were recently designed and built to a very high standard.  They use air-source heat pumps to heat the underfloor heating and hot water systems. Rainwater harvesting tanks are incorporated for grey water systems. Combined with the modern insulation we think you will find things cosy whatever the weather. Each cottage also has a wood burner should you wish to get cosy in front of a real fire.

History: The cottages were built to replace old railway carriage cottages which had reached the end of the line unfortunately - hence the railway themed names. However, the carriages were donated to enthusiasts to reclaim and reuse.
